House of Tricks Voted Best Restaurant to Treat Your Starving ASU Student

House of Tricks was voted Best Restaurant to Treat Your Starving ASU Student in AZ Central's "2012 Critics' Picks." Here's what well-known food critic Howard Seftel had to say:

"Ever since Robert and Robin Trick -- yes, those are their names -- opened House of Tricks 25 years ago in a beautifully restored century-old bungalow, it has been an oasis of Tempe fine dining.

Give your darling a break from ramen, pizza and fast-food burgers with the Tricks' globally inspired cuisine. Grades may not improve, but moods certainly will, after such appetizers as Southern-fried pork belly with smoked honey and black-eyed peas, or harissa-spiced mussels. Such main dishes as red-curry-braised duck, pumpkin goat-cheese ravioli and pork loin cured with mustard and brown sugar are sure to inspire gratitude.

Who knows? One day your student might graduate, move out, earn a living and return the favor by taking you out to dinner. Wouldn't that be a dream come true?"

House of Tricks Voted Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion

House of Tricks was voted Best Restaurant for a Special Occasion in the East Valley Tribune's 2012 "Best of the East Valley." Here's what they had to say:

"An ambiance like few others could be the lone reason to celebrate at this area staple. But it’s not. The contemporary American menu stays fresh with the seasons, and twice it’s been honored with Wine Spectator’s 'Award of Excellence.' But, then again, there’s something adept about taking a pair of connected downtown Tempe bungalows and livening them up with fountains and ponds, foliage and candlelight that translates into the ultimate outdoor dining set."

House of Tricks was voted Best Patio for Dining Al Fresco in the East Valley Tribune's 2011 "Best of the East Valley." Here's what they had to say:

"There's a reason this longtime Tempe restaurant is a regular on 'best' lists around the Valley. Its outdoor space remains the standard we can't help but compare all others to.

An idyllic spot made lush with daisies, geraniums, ferns and grapevine-covered arbors, Tricks' spacious patio connects two historic bungalows that house the restaurant's kitchen and dining rooms."
